terms, privacy & the inevitable fine print

Short version: be decent, keep your own backup of anything precious, and do not put something here unless you have the right to use it. We try hard to keep the lights on and your information protected, but this is a small site—not a bank vault, an archive, or a promise that the internet will behave.

Using the site

By using bogdany.com and its applications, games, chat, storage, and sharing features (the “Site”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. The Site is offered for personal, lawful use. Do not use it to harm people, break laws, interfere with the service, evade access controls, impersonate others, distribute malicious material, or store or share content you do not have permission to use.

Your content and your responsibility

You keep whatever rights you already have in material you create or upload. You give the Site a limited permission to store, process, display, convert, back up, and transmit that material only as needed to operate features you request. You are responsible for your content, its accuracy, and having the rights and permissions needed to upload, transcribe, store, or share it.

Private, unlisted, and public settings control how Site-created content is presented, but no online access control is magic. Uploaded Tab reference files—such as PDFs, SVGs, images, and conversion sources—are intended to remain visible only to their uploader and are not included when a Tab is shared. Do not upload highly sensitive material.

What we store

Depending on what you use, the Site may store:

• your email address, username, Google account identifier, verification requests, and session records;
• content you create or upload, including tablature, revisions, reference files, saved states, preferences, and backgrounds;
• chat messages, room membership, invitations, presence information, game state, results, and statistics;
• basic operational information such as timestamps, IP addresses used for security and abuse controls, browser/device details in error reports, and diagnostic logs.

We use this information to provide the Site, authenticate accounts, remember settings, operate sharing/chat/games, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and maintain the service. We do not claim to sell personal information. Content you deliberately post to public areas, public rooms, leaderboards, or public shares can naturally be seen by others.

Sign-in and security

The Site uses passwordless sign-in: either a one-time link sent to your email or Google sign-in. The Site does not ask users to create or submit a Site password. Google authentication is validated using signed identity tokens, and session cookies use browser protections such as HttpOnly and SameSite where supported.

SHA-256 is a one-way hashing algorithm, not encryption. The Site uses SHA-256 for purposes such as upload integrity/content addressing and privacy-preserving rate-limit identifiers. It is not advertised as “SHA-256 password encryption.” Legacy database password fields contain unusable random or one-way values and are not an active sign-in method.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to this small Site and work to improve them. No website, host, email system, device, transmission, or storage method can guarantee absolute security. Information may be exposed, altered, delayed, or lost because of software defects, service-provider failures, unauthorized access, device compromise, mistakes, or events outside our reasonable control.

Cookies and other providers

The Site uses cookies and local browser storage for authentication, preferences, application state, and similar functionality. Some features rely on service providers, including web hosting, email delivery, and Google authentication. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Following an outside link takes you outside this Site.

Storage, availability, and the “please keep a copy” clause

The Site is provided on an “as available” basis. Features may change, move, break, lose compatibility, or disappear. Accounts, rooms, games, uploads, logs, and other data may be cleaned up, deleted, corrupted, or become unrecoverable. Backups—when available—are operational tools, not a guaranteed personal archive or restoration service.

If losing something would ruin your week, export or retain your own copy somewhere else. You are responsible for maintaining independent backups of important material. We may suspend or remove accounts or content to protect the Site, comply with law, address abuse, manage storage, or discontinue a feature.

No warranties

To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, the Site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, availability, security, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or preservation of data. Games, music tools, conversions, imported notation, statistics, recommendations, and other output may be incomplete or wrong; verify anything important yourself.

Limits of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, the Site and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; lost data, content, profits, opportunities, goodwill, or access; or harm arising from use of—or inability to use—the Site. Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it is limited to the minimum amount the law permits. Nothing here excludes rights or responsibilities that applicable law says cannot be excluded.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not create an account or submit personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided personal information may contact us to request review and removal.

Deletion, retention, and changes

Account and administrative tools can remove certain information. Some records may remain temporarily in caches, logs, backups, shared/forked copies, or records another user independently owns. A forked Tab is the other author’s copy and does not disappear merely because its source account is removed. We may revise these terms as the Site evolves; the effective date above will change when the page is materially updated. Continued use after an update means acceptance of the revised terms.
